About Sue Norman

Reiki Training

Repair & Rebalance is dedicated to excellence in Reiki training and runs high-quality Usui Reiki I, II and Master/Teacher courses in Woking, Surrey, throughout the year.

Attending a Reiki I training course (also known as First Degree or Shoden) teaches you how to treat yourself, your family and friends – even your pets and plants. If you are looking for a way to counteract the stresses and strains of modern life gently but effectively, to experience a little more peace, or perhaps to gain more control over your own or a loved one’s chronic pain, this course is for you.

Reiki II (Second Degree or Okuden) allows further self-healing to occur, develops your intuition, and also brings you up to practitioner level. Could now be the time for you to let Reiki guide you into a new career as a complementary therapist or for you to add Reiki to your existing therapy skills?

The Reiki Master/Teacher level (Shinpiden) teaches you how to pass this amazing gift on to others – not necessarily by running Reiki courses for the general public (although you will receive a lot of support if you wish to do so), as many people take the Master/Teacher course simply to be able to 'attune' their family and friends to Reiki.

At all three Reiki levels, Reiki courses with Repair & Rebalance offer you:

  • Small group sizes of up to 6 people (maximum of 6 people on First Degree courses and maximum of 4 people on Second Degree and Reiki Master/Teacher courses)
  • High-quality course materials, including manuals and audio CDs (plus a DVD on the Master/Teacher course)
  • Comprehensive, up-to-date course content that echoes the intentions of Reiki's founder while being compatible with modern 21st-century applications of Reiki
  • A high-quality certificate confirming completion of the relevant level
  • Ongoing post-course advice and support, including the opportunity to attend a free monthly Reiki sharing group in Woking and an invitation to join an Internet Reiki discussion group hosted by Taggart King of Reiki Evolution
  • Easy, free parking
  • A peaceful - and, it now goes without saying, non-smoking - environment

  • Reiki Treatments

As well as teaching Reiki, I also offer Reiki treatments. A Reiki treatment is a wonderfully de-stressing, energy-balancing experience that helps to stimulate the body's natural self-healing ability. The benefits are usually felt for several days afterwards as the body continues to absorb this beautiful energy.

Treatments last approximately one hour and appointments are available during the week, including some evenings (evening availability varies; if this is your preferred time of day, please give me a call on 07936 44 39 77 or Click here to send me an e-mail, letting me know what evening you had in mind, and we can take it from there).

Treatments cost £35 and are by appointment only.

    Maya Abdominal Massage

Maya Abdominal Massage is a specialised form of massage therapy based on the traditions of natural healing practised for thousands of years by the Maya people in Central America. It is best known for correcting prolapsed or tilted uteruses (wombs) in women, thus relieving menstrual and menopausal discomfort, and it is also excellent for alleviating many common digestive disorders and back pain.

The first session will last about 2 hours (including a comprehensive consultation) and costs £70. Subsequent sessions last about 1 hour and cost £40. When you book your treatment, I will send you a detailed health questionnaire to complete; you will need to bring this with you to the first session.

Appointments are available during the week, including some evenings (evening availability varies; if this is your preferred time of day, please give me a call on 07936 44 39 77 or Click here to send me an e-mail, letting me know what evening you had in mind, and we can take it from there).

Treatments are by appointment only. Female clients only.

    Practice Location

Reiki training courses, Reiki treatments as well as Maya Abdominal Massage treatments take place in my peaceful practice close to the village green in the Kingfield area of Woking, which is little more than a 5-minute drive from the centre of town.

Woking is well-served by road links, with the A3 and M25 close by and the M3 not too far away, making it easily accessible from local towns such as Guildford, Godalming, Weybridge, Camberley, Farnham, Chobham, Leatherhead and Dorking, as well as towns much further afield. Clients and students have travelled to me from all around London and from as far away as Northampton, Oxford and Southampton as well.

Parking at my practice is easy and free, so, once you're here, you can relax, without the worry of ticking parking meters.

Woking also has a mainline railway station with frequent and fast links between London and the south coast. There are plenty of taxis available there but if you feel like a walk, it'll take you about 25 minutes from Woking station, the last half of the walk taking you through the pleasant Woking Park, which leads into the grounds of Woking Leisure Centre.

    About Sue Norman

My professional background is as a medical translator.

    Reiki Background

I first came across Reiki in 1999 and found myself on a Reiki I course later that year without much idea of what Reiki actually was, but I fell in love with it straightaway and still consider it one of the greatest gifts in my life. I did Reiki II also in 1999 and the Master/Teacher course in 2001. I started teaching Reiki in 2003, initially at my local Adult & Community Learning Centre and since 2004 privately from my practice in Woking.

In 2003 - 2004, I retrained, at all three Reiki levels, with Taggart King of Reiki Evolution, in the Japanese Reiki techniques that have been revealed to the West in the last few years by a small group of living students of Reiki's founder. Taggart was one of the few people passing on this information at the time and I was interested both in updating my own experience of Reiki and in being able to pass the newly discovered techniques on to my students.

Since 2005, I have been an 'Associate Reiki Master' of Reiki Evolution, teaching monthly First and Second Degree courses and regular Master/Teacher courses from my practice in Woking on Taggart's behalf. To visit Reiki Evolution, click here.

To date, I have taught over 200 people at all three Reiki levels in small-group classes.

I am a Master/Teacher member of the UK Reiki Federation.

    Massage Background

I am one of a small number of Professional Practitioners of Maya Abdominal Massage in Europe. I was fortunate enough to train directly with Dr. Rosita Arvigo (who 'formalised' the techniques after apprenticing for more than 10 years to one of the last traditional Maya shamans in Central America) on the first Maya Abdominal Massage Professional Practitioner training course ever held in Europe, in June 2007.

Practitioners of Maya Abdominal Massage have already to be qualified healthcare practitioners before they embark on the training. I have been a practising massage therapist since 2001, and have specialised in sports massage since 2003. I hold the ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology and Massage, the Sports Massage Diploma offered by the prestigious London School of Sports Massage (LSSM), and the LSSM's Remedial Massage Certificate. Sorry, but I am currently not taking on any new sports massage clients so that I can focus on Maya Abdominal Massage.

I am a member of the Maya Abdominal Massage Association (the professional body) in the US and a member of the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage in the UK.

    Hatha Yoga Background

I have been doing yoga for over 20 years and teaching it since 1996. I hold two yoga teaching diplomas: one from FRYOG (Friends of Yoga), following a 2-year course, and one from the governing body, the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), following a 10-month 'Integration' (bridging) course for already-qualified, experienced yoga teachers. I am now also certified by the BWY to conduct the 'recorded teaching practices' that BWY student teachers have to do during their diploma course.

Since first qualifying, I have taught yoga in a wide variety of settings, including as an Adult & Community Learning tutor for Surrey County Council and Hampshire County Council, at a number of health and fitness clubs, in the corporate environment, and privately.
